Dear Members,
We would like to invite you to join us in a small August initiative with a big impact. Throughout August, let’s try to travel to Balance Club Brumlovka by foot, by bike, or by public transport. (By the way, did you know that from the Budějovická stop, the BB1 and BB2 shuttle buses run to Brumlovka during peak hours almost every 3–4 minutes?) Let’s leave our cars at home for once. Not only will this benefit our own well-being and help the environment, but most importantly, we’ll be supporting someone who truly needs it.
At the end of the month, we will evaluate the year-on-year decrease in August parking costs and donate the saved amount to support a specific person – Ondřej Zmeškal – a Czech cyclist who, among other achievements, was the first blind person to complete all stages of the Tour de France. Before his last race, Cape Epic, he wrote about himself: “I’m a blind athlete, and my goal is to inspire and push the boundaries of what is possible.”
However, during the third stage of the Cape Epic, he collapsed due to extreme conditions, and this collapse had very serious consequences. Throughout his life, Ondřej has helped others through his extraordinary athletic achievements. Now, as he learns to speak, move, and walk again, the time has come for us to help him. The funds will be used to cover the cost of intensive rehabilitation care aimed at helping Ondřej return to life.
In addition to using eco-friendly transport to the Club in August and not using the parking garage, you can also support Ondřej directly by contributing to the financial fundraiser HERE.
Thank you for your cooperation,
your Balance Club Brumlovka Team
